Windows Phone 7.0 handling text entry screens and keyboard layouts

As it happens sometimes, I had to develop simple page with one textbox at the bottom of the page. Designer put attention on this screen – “page title should be visible even with opened keyboard”.

Pretty easy piece of work.

Secondary Tiles in Mango, Wp7

Hi there!
Here is a short howto on creating secondary tiles in mango from XAML-ed controls:
1. Create usercontrol and set there markup for future tile. Do not use OpacityMask with ImageBrush, it just doesn’t work.
(see attached example, just ordinary usercontrol)
2. Render tiles to Isolated storage

internal static StandardTileData PrepareModelTile(ViewModel selectedModel)

Mango ScrollViewer Issue

Recently I found out that on Mango Beta 2 Refresh (SDK 7.1 RC) page with simple scrollviewer and long vertical content can be scrolled also horizontally (yay!)
Google didn’t suggest anything so I had to dive into that issue myself.
So, basically, issue is caused by HorizontalScrollBarVisibility=”Hidden” property value of ScrollViewer.
Without it you can do only verticall [...]

WP7 Turnstile and Tilt effects

For our Marketplace price drop application we decided to use native Windows Phone 7 UI approach with tiles and effects. You can see this effect when you click any tile on homepage of your WP7 device or in emulator (so called tilt effect).

Привет всем! На улице 2010й год, высокие технологии, почти HTML5, айпады, сильверлайты и прочая дребедень.
В 2006 году была выпущена библиотека jQuery, которая позволила взглянуть на javascript по-другому.
Вот что интересно. В ASP.NET 2.0 были включены так называемые WebParts – частички страницы, которые можно перетягивать, добавлять/удалять/настраивать.
С их помощью легко строится персонализированный портал, где пользователи сами выбирают контент [...]

Профилирование приложений для Silverlight 3 and Silverlight 4

Вообще-то, профилирование клиентских приложений написанных на JS/Flash/Silverlight – редкая необходимость.
Если приложение работает медленно, то скорее всего проблема в дизайне (архитектуре) либо в кривых руках имплементации.
К счастью, я сталкивался и с тем и с другим.
Замерение скорости работы javascript-а, к примеру, раньше было ооооч. сложным, до появления FireBug-а.
С сильверлайтом ситуация очень похожа. Только теперь разработчиков выручает Silverlight [...]
